About Our Work

Potter & Clay is a community-based ministry in Mare Rouge, Haiti. After working with malnourished children and their families for four years, our goal is to find practical solutions that help prevent malnutrition in children and alleviate burdens of everyday life. Our programs include water projects, an education initiative to keep children in school, and a formula program for babies who have no other nourishment. Ultimately, we seek to share the love of Christ and lovingly support families as parents strive to provide for their children.

Why Potter and Clay?

FROM JORDAN

When we moved to Haiti, we had no idea what we would be doing. Moving was hard and lonely, and actually living in Haiti for the first time stripped us of a lot of our previous identities. Before we moved, we had jobs with strict and clear expectations. Now, we were in a foreign country, unsure of what we would be doing every day. Looking back, that blankness and lack of identity was exactly where the Lord wanted us.

Jeremiah 18:4 says, “But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seen best to him.”

Although there have been times of doubt and struggle, we know that God, our Potter, is using Haiti and its people to shape both of us as seen best to Him. This life is turning out to be full of more love, joy, and pain than we ever could have predicted, but it is also more beautiful than we ever would have guessed.
